Three Antique Portrait Photographs

Gentleman antique photo

This well dressed young man could never have possibly imaged his carefully wrought portrait would be bought by a bored artist for a Steampunk makeover.   I wonder, what the people of the future will do with our ownerless photographs?

Child antique photo

I sympathize with this little boy in 1924; school photos are miserable.

Laura Stannard Hall

This photograph has the name “Laura Stannard Hall (Mom’s cousin)” hand written on the back.  The back of the lovely card the photo is mounted on is stamped “From B.H. Dingman, Ground Floor Gallery, Plymouth, Wisconsin.”  The Find a Grave online project people are wonderful, open source volunteer local historians and genealogists.  I found the entry below which I believe is the woman in my photograph.

Greenbush – Laura Stannard-Hall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Stannard was born August 13th, 1879, in the Town of Forest, Fond du Lac County and died of diphtheria at the Mendota Hospital, Madison, Friday afternoon, April 23rd, 1915. She was married to Wyman G. Hall, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hall of the town of Greenbush at the home of her parents in the village of Greenbush, on Sept. 23rd, 1901, by Rev. Olmstead of the M. E. Church. They moved to St. Croix Co. where they have since resided, in 1906. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and four children, Lynn, Lee, Wayne and Ruth. Her mother passed to a Better Land in June, 1907. Her father, post-master Henry Stannard, and brothers, George of Ripon, Allen and Robert of Stannard Brothers Store, Dr. G. H. of Sheboygan survive to mourn her early death. The remains were interred in the Greenbush cemetery, with a short service at the grave by Rev. R. Bailey which was largely attended, on Saturday. The sympathy of many friends and neighbors is expressed in the loss of a devoted wife and mother and ever-kind friend to all. Dr. and Mrs. George Stannard of Ripon, Dr. and Mrs. G. H. Stannard of Sheboygan, Wyman G. Hall of Roberts, were relatives from away in attendance.   Family links:  Parents:  Henry J Stannard (1843 – 1936)  Eunice M Bryant Stannard (1843 – 1907)  Spouse:  Wyman G Hall (1878 – 1948)*  Children:  Wayne S Hall (1907 – 1974)*  Ruth Bessie Hall Hop (1910 – 1997)* *  Reverse Relationships:] body=[This relationship was not directly added to this memorial.
