Book Recommendation: The Fall of Freddie the Leaf

Freddie the Leaf

The Fall of Freddie the Leaf by Leo Buscaglia is a work where the compassionate professor partnered with five photographers to give an explanation of death for children.  The work is non-denominational and I always imagined writing it had to be challenging.  The main character is a leaf on a tree in a park going through his life as the seasons change.  Fall turns to winter and Freddie is bewildered by the loss around him but has the comfort of his wise best friend Daniel.  He tries to understand life and death throughout the story.  The whole book is thoughtful and kind with the empathy that characterized so much of Buscaglia’s writing and made him a popular author.
