Spray Paint Art in Museum

Partly on This Side/ Partly on the Other Side by Sigmar Polke [German, 1941-2010] Sprayed acrylic on ivory wove paper , with cut-outs for stencils, 1979

detail

I have been loving the current exhibit of Rarely Seen Contemporary Works on Paper at the Art Institute  which will be running until January 13, 2013.  I photographed a few different works and this stencil and spray paint work is a favorite from this show.  It seems to have a lot of graffiti influence, especially for the year it was made.  There is a wide range of media, a lot of Ed Ruscha and some amazing collage works on display.
