Artist Tip: Make a Brush Case

This is a great idea that was sent in by a reader to The Artist’s Magazine and published in July 1994.  Arminita Neal gave a pattern for using a cut piece of dowel rod, a rubber band and recycled cardboard tubes to make a case for transporting brushes while working outdoors.  I never liked brush rolls because they do squash the bristles of my brushes.  If you have longer handled brushes, save the cardboard tube from gift wrapping paper  and use that instead.  These would be even more fun with a finished outer layer.  Maybe use decorative paper, shelf liner, wallpaper, stencils or paint.  This may be the perfect low-budget gift for your other artist friends.
