Art History: Torii Kiyonaga

November 30, 2011

Torii Kiyonaga [1752-1815] was a Japanese ukiyo-e woodcut master that hit his mature style around 1783.  He was a forerunner to and influence on Kitagawa Utamaro.  I was able to able to see a selection of his works on display at MAIC.  Here are some details of prints that date between 1785 – 1790.
