Artist of the Week: Scott Wade

July 18, 2011

Not everyone feels that art should be permanent.  Combine this with ideas of using non-traditional media, and you get a variety of artists working in ketchup, BBQ sauce, sugar and many other things, add to this list Scott Wade.  He has a body of work done on car windows in dust and dirt and has gotten a wide array of media attention for this specialization.  He frequently executes recognizable works from art history.

People in rural areas that lack asphalt paved roads are familiar with car dust.  They may know a visitor is coming or vehicle is approaching by the plume of dust rising to visibility before the vehicle is visible.  Scott Wade’s work is regional in that it occurred to him to work with the ubiquitous road dust coating car windows.
