Norman Rockwell Painting Hung in White House

July 15, 2011

The Problem We All Live With painted by Norman Rockwell in the 1960s was reported today as having been hung in the West Wing of the White House with Ruby Bridges in attendance with the Obamas.  Ruby Bridges is the little girl portrayed in the painting and was the student escorted  in New Orleans during the first day of court-ordered desegregation of public schools.  She was six years old at the time.

A photograph of young Ruby Bridges, 1960.  Learn more about her here.
