Often cited as an example of work that regularly crosses the line between fine art and design freely, the art of Takashi Murakami blends Manga, illustration, psychedelia and painting.  Some works are created as ready-made-to-order large 3-D sculptures.  If you categorize it as Pop Art, it’s Pop Art in the form of a mocha double espresso with a hit of acid in it.

A lot of Murakami’s designs have been united with products such as Louis Vuitton handbags, luggage, Converse shoes and more.  Murakami likes to riff on themes and modes of representation surrounding advertising, hyper-sexuality, cuteness and culture.
